hrm. blue ray vs. HD-DVD… sounds like VHS vs. betamax
great man in the street interviews w/ the ps3 campers. their devotion warms the heart!
time to pour some saki in honor of Akio Morita and get ready for some badass gaming, when developers start getting their heads around the cell processor…

Interesting to see whether the two part Southpark episode about the Nintendo Wii has any impact on this battle in the gaming war…

Sony’s on top without a doubt. They got a stranglehold — a cobra clutch in the console game.

I never liked Sony, well, I once did until they burned me in the ’80’s. Don’t like the stock either- too many law suits against them-namely, IMMR - $100+ MM.

Two words: battery recall.

Sony has had a rough start with their PS3 cutting back features and their initial arrogance… “next gen gaming starts when we say it starts”. “ps3 is twice as powerful as the xbox 360″. Hmm, you don’t hear them saying those things anymore especially since game developers have publically stated that the machines are pretty much equivalent. Now the real game war has begun, it’ll be interesting to see if they can continue the success from the PS2 especially since exclusive titles are becoming rarer these days due to development costs. Competition, priceless :)

The company expects much of its growth to come from restructuring efforts-) firing 7% of its work force by 2008 March.
And its ridiculous that I’ve to wait till the end of Feb to get my ps3!

sony product sales are falling. overpriced hardware. poor customer service. brand reputation is depreciating due to poor quality products coming out. the million laptop battery recall dilemma. pathetic PR. mismanagement, especially in the case of the ps3 with its excessive price leading to below expectation sales. insistence on being the proprietary hardware manufacturer. its ‘walkman mp3′ line has lost touch with the street. lack of ingenuity, they follow something thats been proven as opposed to innovating and trying to expand new into a new audience and market. sony pictures churns out a hit movie once or twice a year, theyre not a significant player in the movie industry. record sales are down overall. their mob. phones have been notoriously sh*t, improving over time but that taints your brand.
i think that about sums up why sony sucks and why their stocks are low. and inbetween the time i posted this and the episode was recorded their stocks went lower again because of their ps3 failure.
