BlackBerry Storm Electrifies Consumers

There was some excitement today In the fledgling consumer market. The newest BlackBerry, the BlackBerry Storm, forced businessmen and early adopters into the cold at 6am this morning. Everyone wants a crack at the CrackBerry with a touch screen.

“People love touch screens, this touch screen is special. It’s a click screen, a continuation of a touch screen and a physical button that you touch down. That’s a brand new technology,” said Sasha Segan, a PC Magazine Analyst.

Hey, maybe we should put special click screens on everything…click screen TV’s, click screen laptops, click screen cars, ATMs, cameras—it’ll be a revolution.

Here’s more, from Reuters:

  • More than 200 people had waited at a Verizon store in mid-town Manhattan early in the morning, many of whom were turned away after it ran out of the new phones less than an hour after opening at 8 a.m. The angry customers caused a ruckus and police came to restore order.
  • Verizon said hundreds of others were in lines outside its stores up and down the U.S. east coast, but added that it had “plenty of phones” and would keep getting more shipments. It declined to give specifics on inventory levels.
