College textbooks are ridiculously expensive. And the price (in California, at least) has gone up about 30% in the last four years.
CSUN has a plan to help struggling college kids out. It’s a small plan, and it might not help much. But at least it’s something.

- If professors put in extra research and encouraged students to buy older or used textbooks, this act alone could allow for a dramatic cost reduction.
- Furthermore, administrators should utilize electronic resources as a cost-efficient and eco-friendly alternative. And university deans should adopt a policy like CSUN’s, in which faculty members are required to use the same textbook for at least two years.
