    I bought this stock back in 2005 when it was on the way down because they were changing to a radical new revenue system (no monthly subscription, but pay-as-you-go kind of thing) which sounded good to me - but not to the rest of the market!

    I sold it 24 months later for a profit, and have never looked back. Not a stock worth chasing at the moment. Why? Because the success of a games company depends on them churning out best selling titles every 12-18 months. It’s very difficult to predict whether or not the new title in the making will be a hit. If it isn’t, it’s the end of Shanda. That’s one of the reasons they’re working on several titles at the same time.
    Still, the stock is overpriced at the moment.

      I’m still highly sceptical of any chinese internet company. Nothing stops the government to crack down the business and the overseas expansion seems unlikely.

            i think gaming stocks can actually be bough at weakness rather than strength as will points out above.

            that said, nintendo seems like the only sure winner these days

                Howard, I think that’s because Nintendo produces gaming devices that even seem to appeal to HRM The Queen of England. No, seriously. The stuff they sell is simple, yet innovative. Think Wii. If you are into serious gaming, any other console is not enough and you end up buying three graphics boards so you can use their power in parallel. Oh and you need a huge screen, and a good CPU… You find yourself buying a new machine every time a new game comes out. Has been that way in my childhood, given Moore’s law it’s now even more so. It’s the simple things in life you usually enjoy most.

                  Note: I think upside on shares of SNDA is 34, and it’s like the overall market; bearish bounce that “might” have some more upside, so calls is the better way to go, expiration 6 months out.
