Howard stayed up late so he could make the first post. :-)
Let’s hope the investigation into the latest Army bribery scandal doesn’t affect UIC.

Well, boys, we got three engines out, we got more holes in us than a horse trader’s mule, the radio is gone and we’re leaking fuel and if we was flying any lower why we’d need sleigh bells on this thing… but we got one little budge on them Rooskies. At this height why they might harpoon us but they dang sure ain’t gonna spot us on no radar screen!
Major Kong clearly would be long UIC

Here is a study that Lindsey may find useful.
http://people.csail.mit.edu/rahimi/helmet/
MIT researchers evaluated the effectiveness of tin foil hats to block government spying and found that such hats actually enhance signals in the frequencies allocated for government use.
The possible conclusion is that it is a government conspiracy to make you think that foil hats are protective in order to make it easier to actually spy on you.
And just when you thought it was safe to be paranoid.

UIC: United Industrial Buying Back Shares
From William Trent, CFA of Stock Market Beat
Hot on the heels of a strong earnings report, Mid Cap Watch List member United Industrial Corporation (UIC) announced that its Board of Directors authorized a new $50 million stock repurchase plan. The Board also authorized an additional $50 million of stock repurchases, for a total of up to $100 million, contingent on the company executing an amended or new credit facility of at least $200 million in capacity.
My take: Initially I was skeptical about the seriousness of this buyback, which would amount for a significant slug of the $625 million market capitalization even at the smaller $50 million plan. I figured the buyback would just be soaking up shares converted from the bond issue.
Then I looked at the annual report, and saw that the share count is already down nearly 15% from the 2003 peak. So now I’m thinking they are going the slow-motion self-LBO route. And I generally like companies that take that route.

Too bad the product is useless. You guys should have talked to actual Marines who use the junk in the field–plenty of Marines in my family can tell you how fun they are to fly and repair while bullets are flying by your head. The last story I heard, a Marine had to use his Logitech web cam and taped it on the wing of the TUAS and used his own laptop to identify a target. Short this sucker and go long on LogiTech. The war is over anyway.

Actually, the Lindsay clip shows us the obvious limitations of the unmanned craft in 3D Urban combat. The enemy runs inside a Mosque and that’s the end of it.

maximo - as always a very interesting point on UIC. I hate military stocks. No different than drug and med stocks. FDA and government spending reliant industries are just too hard for me. breakouts or no breakouts.
just a boundary that i try and keep for my stocks.

Interesting take that it is the Iraq war pushing this stock higher.
Others may look at the 400% gain from 1993-2000 and conclude that the company has simply been producing the kind of military technology that the Pentagon has desired—regardless of who is in the White House or which occupation they might be commanding.

Well done!
Do you know which company reads the minds of private central bankers before they manipulate interest rates, conduct false-flag terrorist attacks, invade nations, steal natural resources and enslave all people?
