That was great!!! I love CAT since I grew up around them. My family had a fleet of thirty 1979 CATERPILLAR D8K’s bulldozers. CAT is
my favorite brand behind Coca Cola and if you ask most Latin Americans in the agricultural sector they would rank CAT at the top.

CAT has an amazing international sales force and distribution network…that’s been the key to its success, not to mention the quality of its products.

Up until the late 1990s, CAT dominated the Latin American market, but Deere & Co has gained some ground in recent years through pricing and financing. But Deere’s strength is really in the North America market (construction and forestry) and CAT is more spread out around the world. Nevertheless, DE is also trading at an all time high at $123, but to be honest I would not consider buying these stocks at this level. Remember, the heavy equipment business is also cyclical and the highest margin are in heavy and light construction which is slowing down(weak housing market) in most places but China. Caterpillar has a long history in China–the company sold its first products there in 1975 and they continue to expand. Along with China and the mining sector in Africa has contributed to current growth. The energy sector has also played a role. But this is not a time to buy.

I would wait to buy until the price pulls back a bit. I would buy CAT if it goes back to the $60s and if DE pulls back to the low $90s.

I do have a question for Lindsay: Where is your CAT hat and the denim overalls?

                        Max:
I think the volume is disagreeing with you. Looks like it’s running over last year’s high. Is Lindsay driving?

Hilarious! With all this new CBS money, Wallstrip is really coming through with the high tech graphics! Terrific show!

Not sure anybody knows, but Roman does most of the voiceovers and he is the actor in today’s show with Lindsay. More Wallstrip talent on display.

                            Cracks me up.

                              Richard,

Volume does not tell you everything about a company. A year ago today the stock was at $75…not far behind the present price. Volume says nothing in regards to future valuation. But I’ve never been a chart guy. 3%-5% fluctuations are common when a stock is meeting resistance. My point was simple: Fair value has been exceeded.

                                Yep, fundamentalists don’t need volume.

THE BEST!! Maybe you should do a spot on Deere & Co…I’ll bet they let Lindsay run some of their equiptment!

A real Johnny Thumper! The water! She stalled out on the water. I’ll be safe on this island. Nannie, nannie, nannie, Lindsay can’t get me. What the hell was that? A Polar Bear?

this is a trend following show. we dont worry about daily upgrades and downgrades or we would freak out :)

CAT also stands to benefit from the increased regulations on emission standards for heavy-duty vehicles. In California many of the older earth-movers are being sidelined and retrofit (by CAT) or replaced altogether by newer more efficient models..
