CBS Acquires Wallstrip | Neural Market Trends // May 22, 2007 at 6:08 am
[…] Congratulations to Howard, Lindsay, and the rest of the Wallstrip gang! CBS acquires Wallstrip for an undisclosed amount but the rumor on the street is $5 million. Not bad for a video blog less than a year old! […]

Excellent, truly awesome news! Nice to see one of the good guys getting a payoff. And the video was brilliantly set up too.

Wow. And so young, too! Congratulations! Somebody at CBS must have a brain. I just got Satellite TV installed yesterday and realized AGAIN why it was I did not have cable or satellite for a few years now — my thumb got a workout. With Wallstrip - it is only one click. In the same time span using my “new” retro TV tools - my remote thumb got a blister!

Whew, I can finally stop saying “no comment” to the rumors. CBS did indeed acquire WallStrip. Congrats to the entire team, especially Howard (you da man!). He has a post which covers how all of this went down, from idea to acquisition. …

Congratulations Howard! Your team at Wallstrip all deserve this reward for such creative brilliance. But now that you have some major cash, maybe you can buy Lindsay a new table on your set that doesn’t wobble when she uses it.
Nick Fenton // May 22, 2007 at 9:27 am
congrats to all…that’s big news! it was only a matter of time that something like this happened considering all the positive press you’ve received in the past few months. great work, and best of luck.
Lindsay, great job on The Sopranos

Congrats. And don’t let them take away your creative genius.
And tell Lindsay it was great to see her on the Sopranos. She almost made English Lit seem interesting.

Congratulations Wallstrip crew!
Lindsay was great on The Sopranos; maybe she can pull some strings and get Howard on Entourage!

Long Wallstrip!

I’m surprised they let you film outside there and in the building. These companies go nuts over photos and security in their buildings.
Will Ashworth // May 22, 2007 at 1:28 pm
Good stuff. Congrats all the hard work you’ve put into this site
maximo zeledon // May 22, 2007 at 1:31 pm
Congrats guys!!! And now that traffic will increase I hope you guys get more pipe soon because it’s getting hearder to reach the site. Good job everyone, you deserve it!! ANd Linsay, you are about to hit the big time. Very similar to what happen to Soledad O’brian. I knew Soledad back in San Francisco when she was the host of a little tech show for geeks, so things are about to change for you.
Trader Mike // May 22, 2007 at 1:45 pm
Joe, have you seen the Goldman Sachs show? Their security did go nuts.
Tuyen // May 22, 2007 at 1:47 pm
That was hilarious. Congrats guys and hope you can still keep the quirky theme to the shows. It would suck if you just became another vanilla finance show. Though if you got the President of CBS Interactive to participate in an episode, that does bode well for you!
Joel Price // May 22, 2007 at 1:50 pm
Wallstrip Rocks… Congrats guys! So happy to see this go down. I’ve watched every episode, looking forward to many more.

BSD // May 22, 2007 at 2:25 pm
Definitely long this acquisition. As you all see CBS stock jumped 4.4% since rumors first started surfacing around May 10th.
Agree with maximo on the Soledad comparison 100%. Lindsay, those CBS grunts will be kissing your Manolos soon enough!
To Howard and the rest of the angels behind Wallstrip - congrats. That’s one hell of a quick turnaround and a handsome ROI.

Lindsay trying to get into the CBS building takes me back to Letterman’s episode of Late Night when he tried to get into the GE building after they bought NBC. Seems like it was only yesterday… but that was over 20 years ago? Two decades and all I’ve got to show for it is memories of celebrities trying to get past building security guards? Holy crap, someday I should start to think about putting together a plan to get a life.
anon // May 22, 2007 at 5:07 pm
Oh, Howard… It’s LETTERMAN on CBS, not Leno… sigh…
Congrats, all!! This is great news.
