Whether you are an insomniac, a Robert Scoble fan or have sleep apnea, this show is so boring that you might fall asleep, and if you do, we’ll be in direct competition with Respironics Inc. (RESP). Howard says that bedtime beats helps him sleep as well.

OK Howard … I have to admit you have screen presence, but after that butt shot I’m scarred for life!
Another great show!

Yeah, that THING looks like you’re an alien! Who is putting a vacuumcleaner in his nose? But I like these gadgets, something like a sunglass with mp3 player.
Only problem: You cant drink beer anymore… well that kills it for me. So I rather take my bluetooth headset and pimp it to the most ridiculous insane gadget ever seen. :)

Damg, this is now my fave episode. Just perfect.
Though many negative things can be said about the American lifestyle, one cannot say that Americans lack a sense of humor and do not poke fun at themselves.

Haha Howard is the man. Maybe i should try one of those things. But then i wouldn’t be able to be one of the first comments on wallstrip…hmmmm…kind of a hard trade off. Tyyroneee.

I posted my technical view of RESP on my blog http://www.alphatrends.blogspot.com

As a Sleep (Polysomnographic) Technician I wanted to point out some things that were inaccurate about the show. One all of the products seen here are ResMed, not Respironics. That’s like holding a Coke can and talking about Pepsi.
Also these masks come in many different forms and not as only the ones shown. There are full face masks and there are oral masks.
Lastly, these masks are only distributed to patients who are diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea. See the link I have provided for more info on this.
Love the show and keep up the good work!

Walt, I have tried all the masks - there are many optios yes. I imagine they are getting less cumbersone by the quarter.
I was diagnosed so have the machine.
Nice catch on resmed, I just like respironics the stock and we have a limited budget and sleep freaks on staff. :)

Hey, nice cover of Stayin’ Alive you got there. And you avoid any copyright hassles to boot….

I dunno if using it completely gets in the way of drinking beer. I could see some college kids tweaking it so it supplies beer instead of air. It looks like it has a built-in funnel even.

hate to be the only naysayer here, but this show kinda sucked. I mean unless you’re a huge Howard fan (which I’m not yet - i mean i like the guy but…) I don’t really see the point in roaming NYC streets with that thing on. Is there some investing metaphor I’m missing?
however, “America it’s time to sit up” was a cute line.

I deserve that I guess.

Howard, understood on the limited budget and sleep freaks on the staff. If it came down to sleep apnea treatment alone, I would choose ResMed products. They are the Nike of the industry here. I’m not sure what else RESP does, but they’re a good company as well and do make good products.

by the way Howard if you ever need help with your masks or sleep apnea questions or anything just email me at the address I have given.

One of the best yet! Keep it up.
What was the name of the song before the disco song?

I have liked all the other shows — but quite frankly, this one sucked. From an investing viewpoint, there was nearly zero info about RESP or their products. Their stock went up. That’s about it. As someone who suffers from severe OSA, I found it offensive. I resent the implication that CPAP/BiPAP treatment is like some designer drug. That whole “American lifestyle” bit is bogus. I’m not overweight, and I don’t ordinarily eat junk food like you showed in your clip. OSA is a serious life-threatening condition. Its causes are mostly hereditary. Most of us cannot be cured with diet & exercise. Howard, going around doing the “isn’t this disgusting” thing, especially the final scene… I mean, geez. You wouldn’t dream of making a clip where you ask that girl how she would feel about dating someone who uses a wheelchair, would you? There are a lot of people whose apnea goes untreated, even to their death, simply because they can’t get a mental grip on the idea that they have to sleep with a respirator on their face every night. I don’t suppose your video improves that situation any.

Jeff - thx for the comments. My blog post accompanying the show had many links with all the information. I have apnea and do know it is serious thats why the stocks are doing well.
I dont think the lifestyle thing is bogus. America is grossly overweight and it has a major iompact on the apnea condition.
Sounds like you should have a blog

As a sleep apnea sufferer, I thought this clip was hilarious :-) Not very accurate though (as other commenters have pointed out)
The medical community is finally starting to understand apnea, which means more and more people are getting diagnosed; companies like Respironics are going to be making a fortune.
