Gotztst to have that phone
No wonder Crackleberry was down 12 bucks today.
Good energy today in the interview.

I’m amazed that most people replace their phones every 16 months. But I hardly use mine.
Yep good interview… a little dancing around some of the questions though. I’d guess he’s signed a lot of NDAs with the cell companies.

Media on the cell-phone is hyped up way too much. It’s not going to become the next venue for media viewing. It’s simply too awkward. Watching “flix” on your phone is just to pass the time.

My favorite lines:
“Make it free!” (Lindsay)
and
“It’s lonely when you’re early to the party.” (Greg)

Yep, we may actually go to the phones before the ITV in the living room heats up. Especially out here in Outer Whitelandia where wireless is sparse and cable and landline phone service remains vintage 1890. TV screens become just a resource for LCD screen netflix experiences. Long hours of traditional TV viewing will be relegated to the nursing home market.

I agree with Michelle B.
Those were the best lines.
I liked the expression on Greg’s face.
Looks like, he is a cool dude!

I would have agreed with you, Harry, until I saw that MediaFLo product work. It’s really incredible. The experience is just like tv.

Mark,
Not usually a fan of shameless plugs but I think I’ll give your Wallhogs a try - the Vynyl stuff looks money.

Hey kids… Why not Slingbox? I’ve been watching 150+ channels of full cable tv on my phone for almost a year now with no monthly fees (aside from my mobile data fee and the $179 for the Slingbox). I just don’t see myself ever going to mobile video in the format that guys like MTV are trying to do. Am I wrong here?

Whatever Adama dn Jeff say on this.
Me - I dont even tivo. the point is that energetic smart people like Greg are trying to change things. As beth said from NBC, don’t count out old media. The blogoshere licked to make fun of them, but they have cashflow and ad dollars.

No doubt Howard. I’m sure MTV and other old media outlets will be reasonably successful with a venture like this. I’m definitely not indicative of what the general population thinks and wants. I get the impression that technology like this is not a giant leap forward but instead a good bridge to get the masses to move toward mobile video consumption. Me? I prefer a full meal of video entertainment as opposed to bite sized morsels. But again, I also don’t mind snaking cable across my living room to my router in the study against the wishes of my wife. I’m sure others might…

thanks for your comment, howard. the interview was a lot of fun.
btw, to tuyen’s comment, i don’t really think it’s an either/or thing with Sling and MediaFLO. they’re both very different experiences.
for one thing MediaFLO is a very, very mass market product. by the end of the year both verizon and at&t will be using this technology and have between them over 140m potential subscribers.
and it is a very easy, one-click, very mom and dad friendly product. no cable wires snaked across the living room (as per tuyen :-) this is one of it’s great strengths. also the digital picture quality is just amazing; really it looks like mini-HD.
oh, and mark - wallhogs look awesome. i think i AM a wallhog kinda guy. i want one. um, would that make me a wall*strip*hog?

Back 2000, when big companies like Disney and News corp tried to join on the Internet bandwagon, they marked the top of the internet bubble..hmm, nothing need to add here.
American mobile experience is far away behind Korean and Japanese (perhaps Chinese as well)…why? some one told me the phone companies spent the money uncle sam gave them to bring broadband to American homes unwisely-on things like the CEO, VP’s retirements etc:)
