Starbucks lover here! I’ve waited for this day for a long time, as an avid starbucks drinker I try to spread the word of Starbucks goodness whereever I go! Good gosh I could use one right now…
Wow! The Astor Place black cube, have not seen it in about 15 years–it looks exactly the same as I remembered it, silly, weirdly comforting, and rather angular.
Naw, the phone calls were funny, illustrated effectively how everyone is obsessed with Starbucks.
The only problem I saw was the lack of proper size lingo, you have to know large is vente, and small is tall, etc. I think Lindsay was drinking a frappuccino there at the end, perhaps my favorite caramel?!
Alas - I am still afraid of Starbucks. I use instant Taster’s Choice to get quick hits of the drug. I have been in a Starbucks maybe once, but the little kiosk “bucks” are “ok” as long as I don’t have to remember anything but the word “regular” .. which is still confusing because in NJ “regular” means with cream and sugar. Go figure. Essentially, I am embarrassed to be a coffee illiterate in an urban environment. I don’t have a Blackberry either. I think that is a prerequisite.
Count me in as a Starbucks hater… not the stock, which I’m neutral about, but the coffee.
I used to drink it somewhat regularly and then I went away for a week where there wasn’t a Starbucks nearby. I had wicked headaches the entire week. I decided then that I had to kick the habit and moved to tea in the morning. It wasn’t easy though… which is why even though I personally don’t drink their coffee anymore I realize it’s a hard habit to kick.
But wow, they release Paul McCartney on their new record label? Who is this Paul McCartney? He any good?
Content about sbux was good - but incoming phone calls was annoying. You do a great job! May I offer a personal preference? I would prefer that you not use “God” and “Jesus” as swear words.
Thank you!
Cute show - Starbucks hater here too. Around 3:00 every afternoon when the high schoolers get out of school, they swarm the place. I don’t know about you guys, but when I was in high school, I got 3 dollars for lunch and that was it. A starbucks coffee/mochachino/cappucino/espresso whatever is how much? 4 dollars? 5 dollars? Crazy kids, but good for the stock.
Starbucks is a great brand and a great place to study and find a date. I met my wife at Starbucks, so I have to be thankful for that. But I don’t know about buying the stock… I just don’t know if this Richard Branson style of management of cross promotional ideas and brand extensions will pay off in the long run. The place is starting to look like a Bazaar rather than a coffee house, but maybe that’s the point. And the other day I bought a hot chocolate from Dunkin Dougnuts and it was insanely delicious. Great segment guys!
That’s all we need, hallucinating hyperactive yuppies everywhere. Nice show, I really like it when Lindsay gets annoyed at Howard, it is very believable.
(I think I figured out the comment problem — it didn’t like my URL.)
Howard Schultz recently said that the companies massive growth has “led to the watering down of the Starbucks experience,” and the company’s stores “no longer have the soul of the past.”" It will be interesting to see what comes next….
[…] It’s a business broadcast done in a new way. Here is the link. I heard about this site and watched a clip of “Crocs” a while ago. Now it appears WallStrip is available from Google Finance everyday (at bottom of the screen), probablly because WallStrip is popular in YouTube and Google now owns YouTube. Anyway, you may want to watch those two (Starbucks and Nike). […]
[…] It seems that lately I’ve been combing through Wallstrip’s archives to see which stocks continued on their trends higher and which didn’t. Starbucks Corporation (SBUX) seems to be one thats breaking down since their profile on Wallstrip and I wonder if it will bounce at its 50 month moving average. […]
I like Richard’s comment about Starbucks selling coffee connectivity. I actually do wonder how long it will be until Google starts to consider buying ‘brick and mortar’ businesses.
I am a fan of the coffee, but agree with StockNoise said, the shops have lost the soul of what made them enjoyable. The addition of the drive through version just put it over the edge.
[…] Mork just hopes the host of Moblogic looks like Lindsay Campbell and not Jeff Marks. They sell coffee connectivity, Google needs to buy them. Get wired on coffee and the internet. One stop shopping!
P.S. Lindsay, love the green bag.

Great look at why sbux is buyable on dips like this recent one.
They own us in a nice way

Fun episode! Love the background music for Lindsay’s trek with all the coffee cups.

The only thing that scares me about Starbucks was Howard Schultz on point internet strategy:
