Exercise especially running. Numbers are increasing every day. Marathons that used to take 8 months to fill up fill up in 3. Races that were tough to fill now are on lottery. I don’t know how to capitalize on it but I do see a increasing trend. Online? Social bookmarking will retreat or a new big player will enter to spread the wealth from Digg.

No one is talking mediacl or healthcare. No one talked about aging population.
The year of the pandemic!

in terms of technology, i hope this is the year that things get easier to use. we got a ton of functionality in widgets, blogs, ad networks, video, consumer electronics, etc in 2006 but a lot of this is really hard to use….

I’m investing more in problems:
CXW - private prisons
AGN - botox
ZMH - artificial joints
DGX - medical testing
any would make an interesting Wallstrip segment.

What about OIL? Cars that run on salt water?
Howard Lindzon One year ago
Donna,
Understand thatOIL is also subject to the economy and global demand and PERCEPTION so it can drop over reasons you dont think.
That said, low 50’s and I am buying more.

Cheer Up. You live in America.
But good ones. I own DJO and it has had too good a run, but i have been thinking about it.

Hi Howard,
If you’re looking for a company to profile on Wallstrip, an interesting one would be nVidia (NVDA). It is close to its 52wk high, and the only real competitor it had (ATI)was recently purchased by AMD.
You can see the chart and trend…
http://finance.google.com/finance?q=nvda
On the momentum front, NVDA is now the last ‘independent’ video chip provider out there. They are pretty well positioned with their new chip line (G80), and could get some bounce from both Intel’s new processor cycle, and Microsoft’s graphic hog - Vista. It’s also possible, given their growing relationship with Intel, that Apple could make the switch over to nVidia as well – to Intel, AMD is the evil empire. Maybe we’ll even see it in the iTV?

I think the major entertainment trend of 2007 is the “webisodic”. Everyone’s getting in on the game and by the end of ‘07, the web will be home to several hit shows, viewed by as many people as today’s hit tv network shows.
BTW, great show idea, John Mahoney! Keep ‘em comin’.

What do I think will happen in 2007? Skynet will become self-aware, of course.
And, Lindsay and I will meet for good food, drinks, and conversation at Rosa Mexicano.
And Howard - you know you want to profile SIRI. Don’t fight it.

TRENDS! :) Ovations and people drooling..madness and hysteria. People just
love them. I do too and here are my own picks and rants:
sweets:
- wifi
- wifi
- wifi
- and wifi again. not the new ‘n’ draft. but plain-old “b/g”. not wimax. no
hsdpa (or whatever the name), no evdo or 3G. who uses those? wifi has become
so ubiquitous, cheap and fun that it’s here to stay and grow.
sure, i’m also biased, but hey..
- usbcell.com
- apple
- meraki.net
- wizzair.com
- dash.net
- flickr
- wallstrip, twit and the like
- smart.com cars which are doing 80mpg
burps:
- youtube - won’t make a buck
- myspace - nobody uses that outside the US
- FON
- suprisingly Skype, the former killer app. watch out for that new “desruptive” pricing that’ll kill them
- bluetooth - bummer
- hp and sony
- zune and vista
- winter tyres!
kewords of 2007:
wireless, podcast, ipod, widget, appliance computer, IPTV, VoIP, integration,
streamline, ubiquitous, sharing.
I wouldn’t know about real-estate other than it’s going to be big in Romania
this year, I wouldn’t know or care about medicine (last time I took any drugs
was vitamine C).
But you can feel some buzz around the quiet revival of atomic energy, the
come-back of the Euro - Dollar war (the EU has 2 new members as of Jan 1st,
Romania and Bulgaria) and the oh-so-quiet race on refining and re-inventing
online advertising which will be a muddy bubble burst if not fixed fast.
so there you have them, WallStrip! hope this will be a good year for all of
us!
Best regards from not-so-snowy-Romania,

Some stocks to profile (that are near their highs):
BAB - British Airways ( I can already picture Lindsay singing the BA theme song….)
RL - Ralph Lauren. You’ve done a spotlight on AEOS, now you can kick it up a notch and take a peek at what the market for Ralph lauren is like these days…..
Duffer One year ago
Hi Howard,
Yes, I am glad I live in the US.
I own all the stocks I mentioned - because as OP suggested, I also think healthcare (DGX, ZMH, and AGN) are good plays without the headaches (har) of the sector.
I also have MO and JNJ -
Here’s my strategy: smoke more cigs (MO) eventually they will test you for some disease (DGX) and if you live you will be all wrinkly need botox (AGN) and your bones will be brittle and you’ll need a joint replacement (ZMH) and all the while using J & J products.
