Congrats and great start for Wallstrip.com!

I really like the concept of having the conversation add an in-depth insight from various perspectives.

does anyone else get an error when trying to play this. I tried both firefox and IE. What am I missing?

  • max // Oct 16, 2006 at 8:30 am

The video does not play. How can i fix this? HELP

  • Peter // Oct 16, 2006 at 8:44 am

More Lindsay, less t-shirt! Just kidding. First, the “URI” above the “Your Comment” box and above the “Leave a comment” line should be “URL”, second, halfway through the video a big grey box that says “ad not found” appears. The video keeps playing but not seeing half the picture kinda spoils the fun. I suspect it’s my ad blocking software at work, but I don’t intend to turn it off.

Some of our alpha testers had some problems with firefox and ie in a windows environment because they had an out of date plug in. As soon as they updated, the video worked great.

We’ve had a lot of firefox and ie users, all able to watch the video. Please try updating your plug in.

If that still doesn’t work, drop us an email and we’ll work through it with you.

As for the ad blocker… well quit blocking our ads! Us producers gotta make a living too…

  • Trader-X // Oct 16, 2006 at 10:08 am

Howard - then tell her I look like Trader Mike!!! Come on, do I have to do all the thinking around here? I know you are busy, but your first priority should be making Lindsay the future Mrs. Lindsay-X!!!

I just saw I could imbed the video - I will put it up on my blog when I get back from the Dr.

    Good going guys!

Who wouldn’t want to wake up to a beautiful woman every morning. If stocks are up, you just made their day better. If stocks are down at least they got to look at a pretty girl (which makes the pain easier I suppose).

  • Wallstrip Niches It Out // Oct 16, 2006 at 11:57 am

[…] There’s a new videoblog around called Wallstrip. It’s a stock-investor type video blog and I thought I’d bring it up because it’s another example of the type of niches that the Internet serves. It launched today and I laughed. Host Lindsay Campbell covers companies like Apple and discusses why or why not investors like them. But it’s upbeat and very user-friendly, and you’ll find yourself really enjoying the coverage. The launch features founder of Wallstrip, Howard Lindzon, at the Wailing Apple wall. Yeah, the music you hear is from Schindler’s List. Now that’s funny shit. […]

  • muckdog // Oct 16, 2006 at 12:02 pm

Good start. About the right time length before my attention span wanes. Apple is a good topic because there are lots of Apple fans. They make a great device and currently dominate the market. But to me the iPod is the the new Sony Walkman. The stock is priced to perfection and should technology change or usher in something newer and better, then the iPod could quickly become uncool.

I don’t own one, and am planning to buy an iPod in the coming weeks. Just so you know, about the time I hop on the fad that’s usually near the zenith of cool, and then comes the quick trip down the slope to uncool.

If I were an investor in the stock, I’d keep the total percentage of the holding in check.

  • jeremy // Oct 16, 2006 at 12:43 pm

I think the most interesting thing about the apple retail phenomenon is how they are able to take down the rest of the computer retail industry.
They don’t have as much pressure to move their inventory. AAPL does not release new models every week so consumers are not buying outdated technology, whereas windows machines are becoming commoditized. If you look at their sales side by side with windows machines (at compusa for example), they are pathetic. Windows competes on price. AAPL competes on the fact that they can be slower with new technology. This allows them to focus more on design and the “cool” aspect.

  • WallstreetFighter // Oct 16, 2006 at 12:59 pm

Great first show. Here are my opinions good or bad. You need a better wardrobe for your hostess. She is too pretty to wear that boring shirt. She did a great job hosting for the first time but did come across a bit nervous but overall fantastic, you have a real winner. Howard, your bit was what I would like to see more of. Funny situations or actions to go along with the information you’re trying to get across. A good interview is always a nice addition or some funny chart work like ugly is so good at. Overall you have a show you should be proud to be a part of and if you didn’t have any kinks in the show you didn’t push it far enough.

  • Wallstrip Conversation » Apple’s Halo (Effect) Still Shines Brightly // Oct 16, 2006 at 1:05 pm

[…] You’ll rarely catch me talking about a stock’s fundamentals because my short term trading is based solely on technical analysis. My view is that, especially in the short term, the chart tells me everything I need to know. But even for my longer term investing I look at the charts first and the fundamentals second. However, I feel compelled to say a little something about the fundamental story that’s been driving Apple Computer Inc’s stock (AAPL) into the stratosphere over the last few years. I was very surprised that today’s WallStrip video made no mention of the iPod halo effect. Analysts and industry experts have talked much about the “halo” effect of iPod sales, or the idea that continued sales of iPods to Windows PC owners will eventually translate into increased Mac sales. Although Apple’s marketshare hasn’t moved significantly yet, Oppenheimer said there is anecdotal evidence to suggest that things are moving in that direction, including a steady stream (in the range of low to mid 40 percent) of first-time Mac buyers at the Apple retail stores and increased uptake of iBook and PowerBook systems by high school and college students who have already bought iPods — an assertion supported by college student market research firm Student Monitor. great show y’allz…

while retail may be the balloon that keeps AAPL on the rise i think that there are two other important considerations at play here as well

    1) apple’s appropriation of FreeBSD to create OSX… which is the only desktop OS presently giving redmond a run for their money presently

    2) apple’s creation of a bulletproof desktop platform — i.e. zero technical support required. case in point — i bought a mac for my wife and sister some 2 yrs back — no issues to date. compare that to the experience i have maintaining a small network of windows PC’s for my parents… which bless their hearts ensures i get to hear from them at least once a week!

    cheers!

Bullish for AAPL as long as $72.60 holds. Failure there could see gap fill $55.08 rather quickly.

I really like the concept of having the conversation add an in-depth insight from various perspectives. For instance, would like to hear people’s various thoughts on what good hedge funds should consist of, principles to go by. All funds should be principled, with good judgement and specialized knowledge. That sort of thing.
