Discussing Disqus

I love Disqus as a product. I love it as a blog tool and conversation centerpiece. I am really happy to be an investor. Daniel and Jason are awesome entrepreneurs. I never had the opportunity to cold call them, but when Fred told me about the feature set over dinner a few months back I asked if there was a company that did that. He told me about Disqus. I than asked for the order. Lucky for me, they let us invest.

My favorite thing is how fast I can discover commenters that have something funny or smart to say. I click on a profile in the comments and than can see their on-line profile and whether they have a blog, twitter etc… as well as who else they are reading and commenting on.

It’s conversation and discovery. It is not the only way available to discover, but it’s the only way I am choosing to discover other bloggers on the web right now. It’s working.

It seems like everyday I find new ways to use it and the Disqus dudes find new features and integrations. My readers can comment from Google Reader. It is making me think twice now about finally using Google Reader.

One of my commenters wrote a post about why Google should buy Disqus . Obviously, the kid is smart.

Check out the growth of Disqus as well . As Borat would say….Niiiice.

Doom and Gloomers…Screw You!

No doubt that negativity sells and we are all in the business of sales.

It’s just I won’t buy your dumb ass ‘Armageddon’ book because you are a cheap salesman.

There are a thousand books on the shelves right now with ‘Armageddon’, ‘Crisis’, ‘Depression’ ‘PORN’ (not really, just slipping in the word for traffic) in their titles. It’s in style. The publishers want to capitalize on it.

If we are truly in ‘Armageddon’, what shot do you have….I will tell you….NONE. Don’t bullshit me with your tagline…’How to survive it’ , because you lost me at Armageddon.

I prefer books with title like ‘Opportunities’. So should you. If you want to make real money, stop wasting time trying to catch lightning in a bottle and supporting authors selling you covers and not books.

If the best sellers are Armageddon books, rest assured that’s enough to get change going making those focused on OPPORTUNITY even wealthier.

Disclosure - Considering a new Book entitled ‘Opportunity Armageddon’.

Best Investment Blogs…From the Globe and Mail

Scott Adams of The Globe and Mail asked me to participate in a best financial blog contest and I submitted my favorite 6. Obviously, I have 20 plus financial blogs in my blogroll that I check in on and new blogs are coming on-line everyday, but the six I chose are my most regular reads.

Hopefully you find some new names on the lists from some of the other judges . You pretty much know mine but read the full article.

Microsoft/Yahoo…What does It all Mean?

Not much. Never has. Mostly about ego’s and noise.

I have been saying this would not happen from DAY 1 and covered it in full detail as well.

Who else, but Fake Steve Jobs (Dan Lyons) could have more to say on the shitstorm and the aftermath .

It’s more important I think to guess tomorrow’s opening and closing price to win a Spiritual Gangster shirt, from a company that uses only Macs and Google search and business apps…and Quickbooks :) .

ALWAYS be Closing!

Just a weekend reminder for you all.

Hat Tip Fred for bringing it front and center in my brain again.

I have been sick but still cold calling and receiving cold calls all week in an effort to get myself back in the mix.

My best investments never come to me, I have always had to call, roll up my sleeves and ask. No one called me on Rent.com, GolfNow or Lifelock. On the other hand…I have a ton of paper (worthless) to sell on EBay on all the hot deals I get CALLED with the priviledge of investing.

Money does not fall in your lap.

This is your wake up call Bud Fox :) (damn…can’t find the clip on YouTube)
